The aluminum louvers in our 5300 McConnell Project, are painted a gradient of four subtle colors shift across the façade, mimicking an oversized, super graphics wood grain. At night the illuminated screen glows, making the building appear as an inviting lantern.⁠

Designed by Founding Partner @robindonaldsonaia Skyline Residence is sustainably crafted to make the most of the site's climate. Nearby ocean breezes passively cool the home while Low-e glazing and responsibly resourced IPE wood screens reduce sun loads. Translucent partitions and a skylight above the house's central staircase allow natural daylight to illuminate the home from within and board-formed concrete thermal massing regulates internal temperatures. VADATalks is an ongoing series of events featuring renowned guests from all professions discussing how art has inspired the work they do. The series is presented by VADA - The Visual Art & Design Academy of Santa Barbara High School. VADA integrates rigorous academic coursework with project-based, career-focused art and design instruction, in a supportive and creative environment.

Led by Founding Partner Russell Shubin and Mark Hershman, 1302 La Brea is situated in a retail desert along traffic-heavy San Vicente Boulevard, our #1302LaBrea project uses a system of 25’ lenticular aluminum fins to both complement the building's horizontality and provide signage opportunities for the retail tenants within. Dynamically controlled vertically projected lights illuminate 220 custom-fabricated lenticular ACM fins to create visages of continuous movement while emphasizing the building’s lenticular form.⁠

The main entry canopy at our #3101WCH project takes its cue from local marine elements. Built by a local boat builder with marine-grade ply covered in resin, the main entry to this award-winning adaptive reuse project is reminiscent of an inverted boat hull. Led by Founding Partners @robindonaldsonaia & Russell Shubin our Tramonto Residence contains four custom Oculus skylights that allow natural light to filter between the upper courtyard and the garage space below. During the day, the skylights enable the sunlight to penetrate to the lower level. At night, they supplement the soft down-lighting for the garage and an up-lighting glow in the courtyard above.⁠
⁠
Composed of 36-inch (diameter) discs of triple-laminated, textured, and walkable glass set flush with the courtyard’s wooden deck, the skylights pierce the surface toward the space below, translating into larger, elliptically shaped-openings, allowing natural light to expand and activate the garage’s ceiling plane.⁠
