Founded in 1991 by Robin Donaldson and Russell Shubin with a shared vision to provide architectural services for discriminating clients who appreciate quality design, ShubinDonalson (SD) is now a fifty-person firm with offices in three Southern California locations. At SD, we understand that our success hinges on the highest level of professional responsibility to our clients. A collaborative effort is focused on delivering residential and commercial buildings and interiors that are thoughtfully conceived with attention to value, authentic material expression and exquisitely executed details, on time and on budget.

Our culture is defined by our shared commitment to design that is created collaboratively in an accessible forum for creative dialogue.  Weekly team design reviews known as TDRs are held in both our LA and Santa Barbara studios.

Our professional responsibility begins with dedication to upholding the standard for integrity We believe that maximum productivity is achieved through team work and clear communication. Our executive group works collaboratively to develop our organization as well as supporting individual personal growth. Through a process of goal-setting and performance evaluation, all members of our team identify his or her individual ambitions so that the organization can support the achievement of those goals.

Every Thursday afternoon our staff come together in the LA office for a weekly design forum on a topic of their choice called “Occupy”, and is available by LIVE streaming in Santa Barbara and Orange County offices.
